Meal Preparation and Nutrition

Real meals, cooked in their own kitchen

Ask any adult child what worried them first, and it is usually food. The fridge with three yogurts and nothing else. Weight coming off. A parent who used to cook every night now living on toast.

Meal Preparation and Nutrition from A Precious Elder

Quick answer

A Precious Elder caregivers shop, cook and serve fresh meals in the senior's own South Bay home, following doctor-ordered diets such as low sodium or diabetic, and eat with the client when company helps them eat more.

Caregivers shop, cook and clean up, and just as important, they sit down and eat with your parent. People eat more with company. We follow whatever diet the doctor has ordered, and we are happy to cook the dishes your family actually likes, from Japanese and Filipino to Mexican and good old meatloaf.

Meal Prep questions

Can caregivers cook for special diets?

Yes. Give us the doctor's instructions and we build them into the care plan. Low sodium, diabetic, renal, soft and pureed diets are all routine. If a dietitian is involved, we follow their plan.

Who pays for groceries?

The family does, through your parent's usual card or a house account. Caregivers keep receipts and log every purchase in their visit notes.
